JANE TRYON 6.103a, daughter of Isaac Tryon 5.39b and Abigail (Shaylor) Tryon, was born at Glastonbury, Conn., in 1817, and died there Jan. 10, 1843, aged 26 years.

WATSON TRYON 6.103b, first son of Isaac Tryon 5.49b and Abigail (Shaylor) Tryon, was born at Glastonbury, Conn., June 8, 1825. He married Susan Lane, Sept. 15, 1832. She was born at Weld, Maine, in 1830, and died in 1901. He was a mason and builder, with an office in the Capitol Building at Hartford, according to Greer's Hartford Directory of 1877. He died in 1923, at the age of 98 years. They had at least six children:

ELIZABETH THOMPSON LAIN 6.106a, daughter of Eliza Tryon (Thompson) Lain 5.58a and Joseph Lain, was born in 1827. She married John Knapp Van Scoy in 1849. He was born in 1822, and died in 1894. She died in 1889. Two children were reported:

CATHERINE HAHN 6.108b, daughter of Amanda (Tryon) Hahn 5.59c and Adam Hahn, was born in 1851. She married first, Mr. Hendrickson, and they had two daughters:

LIZZIE or ELIZA HAHN 6.108f, daughter of Amanda (Tryon) Hahn 5.59c and Adam Hahn, was born in 1860. She married Mr. Jenkins, and they had five boys and two girls, no names found, and they moved to South Dakota.

SOPHRONIA HAHN 6.108g, daughter of Amanda (Tryon) Hahn 5.59c and Adam Hahn, was born Apr. 27, 1863. She married Charles H. Walter. She died July 18, 1917. They had five children:

MARY F. HAHN 6.108i, daughter of Amanda (Tryon) Hahn 5.59c and Adam Hahn, was born in 1866, and died in Canton, Mo., in 1954, not married.

VIRGINIA or JENNY HAHN 6.108j, daughter of Amanda (Tryon) Hahn 5.59c and Adam Hahn, was born in Missouri in 1869. She married George M. Boudreau, Nov. 6, 1884, at Quincy, Ill.. She died at Quincy, Ill., June 11, 1947. They had two sons:

WILLIAM R. TRYON 6.110a, son of Jacob A. Tryon 5.59e and Jane (Tall) Tryon, was born in Pennsylvania. He married Emma ---, who was born in 1872. He died in 1946. One daughter:

CURTIS TRYON 6.111a, first son of Thomas Tryon 5.75a and Sarah (Curtiss) Tryon, was born at Middletown, Conn., no date, and was baptized "at Thomas Tryon's", on Jan. 26, 1790.
LEVI TRYON 6.111b, second son of Thomas Tryon 5.75a and Sarah (Curtiss) Tryon, was born at Middletown, Conn., date not known. He was baptized "at Thomas Tryon's", on Jan. 26, 1790. He married Polly Bartholomew, daughter of Charles Bartholomew, of Kirkland. They moved to Sandy Creek, N.Y., about 1800. The History of Oswego County, N.Y., says that Sandy Creek was at one time part of Oneida Couonty, and mentions that Levi first settled on Lake Ontario, near Richland, N.Y., in 1800. Levi's old house, called "Rainbow Shores," still stands at a golf club, near Syracuse, N.Y. His old well is still used by the golf club for drinking water. In the Surrogate Court of Oneida County, the will of Charles Bartholomew, of Kirkland, dated Mar. 11, 1866, mentions Polly Tryon as a daughter. Levi and Polly had ten children:

She lived in Middletown, Conn., and married Jesse Goff, son of John Goff and Hannah (Cobb) Goff, of Chatham, Conn., Jan. 26, 1831, by Rev. William Jarvis. Jesse was born in 1802, and became pound keeper in Portland, Conn., in 1841. He died at Crowell, Conn., Mar. 29, 1886. Eight children were shown:

EDWIN CORNWELL 6.144b, second son of Mabel (Tryon) Cornwell 5.84b and Jabez Cornwell, was born in Connecticut, Feb. 8, 1812, and died in Flint, Mich., Aug. 4, 1883. He married Amy Bacon Coats, Jan. 27, 1833. She was born in Massachusetts in 1805, and was raised by her uncle, Nathaniel Bacon, after the death of her parents. They moved to Michigan, and had four children:

JOHN TRYON or TRIAN 6.145a, son of Noah Tryon 5.84c and Prudence (Jones) Tryon, was born in Ohio, Mar. 14, 1799, and died in Vigo County, Ind., Mar. 31, 1883. He married Mahala Jones, no date. She was born in Ohio in 1818, and died in Vigo County, Ind., Feb. 24, 1888. He is buried in Brown Cemetery in Vigo County. They had at least five sons:

JEREMIAH TRYON 6.145c, son of Noah Tryon 5.84c and Prudence (Jones) Tryon, was born in Ohio, Feb. 28, 1801, and died in Vigo County, Ind., Dec. 1, 1862. He married Thirza or Thurzy Quick, no date. She was born in New York, May 19, 1802, and died in Vigo County, Sept. 2, 1888, aged 86 years. They are both buried in Brown Cemetery in Vigo County. Jeremiah was the first known Tryon in Vigo County. He is listed as being there in 1830, while the other Tryons were still in Dearborn County in the eastern part of the State. He started the first hotel in the area, in a place called Lockport (now Riley, Ind.). We find five children listed:

LUCAS TRYON 6.145d, son of Noah Tryon 5.84c and Prudence (Jones) Tryon, was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, in 1809. He married Sarah Huffman, probably in or near Vevay, Ind., May 17, 1822. He died Aug. 3, 1880, and was buried in Myers Cemetery, Washington County, Ind. Twelve children accounted for:

He married first, Katherine Norrich or Harrich, in Dearborn County, Ind., May 21, 1830, and he married second, Martha Sly, no date, in Dearborn County, Ind., July 3, 1818. No children to either marriage.

HIRAM TRYON 6.145h, son of Noah Tryon 5.84c and Prudence (Jones) Tryon, was born in Ohio, Mar. 14 or Sept. 13, 1819. He married Hester Wellman, daughter of Levi Wellman, at the Union Baptist Church in Vigo County, Ind., Aug. 6 or 9, 1850. She was born in Dearborn County, Ind., Nov. 4, 1826, and died in Vigo County, Ind., Aug. 11, 1899, aged 72 years, 9 months, 24 days. He died Jan. 10, 1905, aged 90 years. His mother, Prudence, is listed as living with them in both the 1850 and 1860 census. We find eight children:

He married Levinia Hayden in 1802, and they moved to Oswego, Cayuga County, N.Y. soon thereafter, where he operated a wool mill and became a clothier. Levinia was born in 1782, and died in 1849. He died in 1861, aged 82 years. They had ten children:

LUTHER TRYON 6.155c, third son of Capt., William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Sunderland, Mass., Dec. 1, 1780, and was baptized Sept. 29, 1787. He married Nancy Ann Bradley, of Hadley, Mass., at Sunderland, in 1802. She was born at Hadley in 1794, and died in 1857. Not much is known of Luther, but they lived in Deerfield, Mass., in 1817, and he died in 1865. Two children are recorded:

CALVIN TRYON 6.155d, fourth son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Sunderland, Mass., Nov. 2, 1782, and was baptized on Sept. 29, 1787. He and his brother William S. 6.155a, signed a petition to divide the town of Deerfield, Mass., on Apr. 4, 1808.

ZEBINA or JOVINA TRYON 6.155e, fifth son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Sunderland, Mass., Feb. 9, 1785, and was baptized Sept. 29, 1787. He was a farmer, and married Emily Hodge, of Hadley, Mass., in 1809. She was born Feb. 7, 1790, and died in Madison County, N.Y., July 12, 1830, at the age of 46 years. He and his brother William S. 6.155a, signed a petition for a new preacher at Deerfield, Mass., Feb. 25, 1809. He died in Madison County, N.Y., Aug. 19, 1829, aged 45 years. We find five children recorded:

ELIZABETH TRYON 6.155f, first daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., Mar. 19, 1787. She married George Hodge, of Hadley, Mass., date unknown. Their intention to marry was published Feb. 3, 1810. This couple "brought up" Emoline Tryon 7.240d, as her parents died early in her life. (George may have been a brother of Emily (Hodge) Tryon, the mother of Emoline. )

DENNIS TRYON 6.155g, sixth son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., Mar. 28, 1789.

CLARISSA TRYON 6.155h, second daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Susanna (Spofford) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., July 11, 1791. She married Ebenezer Gates, July 21, 1812 (?), and died at Litchfield, Conn., May 5, 1873, aged 81 years. They had one son:

LEMUEL TRYON 6.155i, first son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., July 9, 1792. He married Matilda Sutherland, date unknown. She came from Connecticut. He signed a petition on Apr. 4, 1808, to divide the town of Deerfield, where he lived until 1820. He was at one time in Pompey, Onondaga County, N. Y. His death is listed as Mar. 23, 1847, his age being 55 years and 3 months. He was buried in Hebron Township, McHenry County, Ill. According to the History of Buckland, Mass., page 667, "Captain Lemuel Tryon, living on Tryon Hill, where Benjamin Keach later lived, was first Justice of the Peace." Matilda later married second, J. H. Wodell, in June of 1851. The four children of Lemuel and Matilda found recorded were:

MARY TRYON 6.155k, second daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., Mar. 17, 1795. She married Lelick Roberts.

LAURA TRYON 6.1551, third daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at South Deerfield, Mass., Nov. 21, 1796, and died Apr. 3, 1813, aged 16 years.

BELA HOPKINS TRYON 6.155m, second son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Franklin County, Mass., May 19, 1798. He lived in South Hadley, Mass., and married Harriet Billings, a daughter of Jesse Billings and Lucy (Wright) Billings, Feb. 19, 1825, by Samuel Siker, Justice of the Peace. She was a sister of Ira Billings (see 6.158a), and was born Dec. 29, 1798. They moved to Manilus, N.Y., but in 1837 they settled in McHenry County, Ill, at that time an unsettled prairie country, at Hebron (so-named by Harriet). He owned 1,000 acres of land. She died at Hebron, Oct. 31, 1877, aged 79 years, and he died there Jan. 6, 1848, aged 50 years. It was said of him: "His heart was the throne of honor, and his brow the witness of manly integrity." Two children were recorded:

RODULPHUS TRYON 6.155n, third son of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., Oct. 25, 1799, and died at South Deerfield, Dec. 9, 1803, aged 4 years. He was buried in South Deerfield.


ANNA H. TRYON 6.155O, fourth daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., Dec. 22, 1800. She married Daniel D. Bates, of Deerfield, date unknown.

AMANDA TRYON 6.155p, fifth daughter of Capt. William Tryon 5.86a and Hannah (Hopkins) Tryon, was born at Deerfield, Mass., July 13, 1803. She married Francis Billings, son of Timothy Billings and Amy (Dwelley) Billings, her first cousin, at Deerfield, on June 1, 1826. He was a first cousin of Ira Billings, son of Jesse Billings and Eleanor (Wright) Billings (see 6.158a), and was born Apr. or Aug. 17, 1797. They had one son recorded:

MARY HUBBARD 6.156A, daughter of Irene (Tryon) Hubbard 5.86b and Ephraim Hubbard, was born at Greenfield, Mass., no date given. She married Deacon Lewis, and was mentioned in the will of Elijah Tryon 5.86c.

WILLIAM TRYON HUBBARD 6.156b, first son of Irene (Tryon) Hubbard 5.86b and Ephraim Hubbard, was born at Greenfield, Mass., in 1799. He ''came South" and married, name of wife not known. He died in 1874. One boy is reported:

ALLEN HUBBARD 6.156c, second son of Irene (Tryon) Hubbard 5.86b and Ephraim Hubbard, was born at Greenfield, Mass., date missing.

EUNICE TRYON 6.158a, first daughter of Timothy Tryon 5.86d and Roxanna (Smith) Tryon, was born at Middletown, Conn., Oct. 3, 1797. She lived at Buchland, and married Ira Billings, of Deerfield, Mass., son of Jesse Billings and Eleanor (Wright) Billings, on Oct. 13, 1818. He was a brother of Harriet Billings (see 6.155m), and was born Dec. 20, 1792. He was a wheelwright at Bloody Brook. His death date is not known, but she died Apr. 23, 1864, aged 67 years. Her death certificate names the place of her birth as Ashfield, Mass., but she does not appear in the Vital Statistics or birth records of that place. Tradition says she was born in Middletown, which is probably correct. Ira was in business with his father Jesse, and their business was extensive in this section, extending as far as the United States Army post in Springfield, Mass., and to Brattleboro, Vt., and his wagons and carriages testified to his workmanship. Ira and Eunice "brought up" a family of 10 children and aided in the support of his sister's two children, Almon and Allen Bryant. Of the ten children of Ira and Eunice, seven found their last resting place beyond the Mississippi River. The ten were:

He married Lydia Forbes, daughter of Jonathan Forbes and Lydia (Batchelder or Bachelor) Forbes, also no date given. They lived in Livingston County, N.Y., in 1819, and bought land there in 1822. Lydia died Nov. 16, 1845, at the age of 43 years, 2 months, 5 days. Both are buried in Tantan Cemetery, Leicester, N.Y. They had seven children:

AUSTIN TRYON 6.158d, third son of Timothy Tryon 5.86d and Roxanna (Smith) Tryon, was born at Middletown, Conn., in 1811. His family moved to Manilus, N.Y., in 1816. He married, but no information concerning his wife was found. One child is recorded:

TRUMAN DUNHAM 6.159b, first son of Elizabeth (Tryon) Dunham 5.86e and Harvey Dunham, was born Feb. 26, 1797, and died Sept. 8, 1860.

HARVEY DUNHAM 6.159c, second son of Elizabeth (Tryon) Dunham 5.86e and Harvey Dunham, date not known. They lived at Shuttle Meadow, and there were four children:

REBECCA G. DUNHAM 6.159f, fourth daughter of Elizabeth (Tryon) Dunham 5.86e and Harvey Dunham, was born Jan. 9, 1810. She married Collingwood Hart or Hert, no date.

STEPHEN TRYON 6.165a, son of Edward Tryon 5.88b and --- (---) Tryon, was born in 1775, and died in 1820, aged 45 years. He married Abigail Pierson, Jan. 15, 1821, and they had a son: Stephen 7.265a.

JOSEPH TRYON 6.167a, son of Richard Tryon 5.88d and Betsy (Tripp) Tryon, was born in 1792, and died Jan. 17, 1801, aged 8 years.

ANDREW SYLVANUS TRYON 6.168a, son of Asa Tryon 5.88e and Esther (Chapman) Tryon, was born at Durham, N.Y., Nov. 30, 1808, and died at Pella, Iowa, July 16, 1888, aged 80 years. He was a brick maker, contractor, builder, and later a farmer. He married first, --- ---, and they were the parents of a son:

Then, when he was aged 36 years, he married third, Alice Morley Townsend Alvord, daughter of Elihu Alvord, at Long Grove, Iowa, Feb. 11, 1844. She was born at Ellicottsville, N.Y., Jan. 18, 1820, and died at Peoria, Iowa, Oct. 2, 1867, aged 47 years. They had eight children:

She married President Merritt Rogers, of Petipaque or Petipang, son of Ichabod Rogers and Rhoda (Southwick) Rogers, of Deep Creek, Conn., at Saybrook, Oct. 6, 1825, by Rev. Frederic W. Hotchkiss. Merritt was born Apr. 29, 1802, and died at Springfield, Mass., Aug. 5, 1887. She died at Cleveland, Ohio, between 1866 and 1870, and was buried in the family lot of the Brainard's. Their six children were:

JEREMIAH JONES TRYON 6.169c, first son of Jedediah Tryon 5.88f and Belinda (Jones) Tryon, was born at Saybrook, Conn., Nov. 19, 1802, and was baptized into the First Congregational Church of Saybrook, Aug. 12, 1810. He married first, Rhoda Blakeslee Rogers, of Deep River, Conn., Sept. 2S, 1827. She was born Nov. 11, 1811, and died Nov. 23, 1828, at the age of 17 years, following the birth of her twins:

The estate was distributed May 2, 1881, to Mrs. Rhoda Fisher 7.270a, Mrs. Azubah Clark 7.270d, Mrs. Belinda Clark 7.270f, Mrs. Josephine Young 7.270j, Addison E. Tryor 7.270h, and grandson, Newton Stokes 8.438b.

JEDEDIAH TRYON 6.169d, second son of Jedediah Tryon 5.88f and Belinda (Jones) Tryon, was born at Saybrook, Conn., June 19, 1804, and died Apr. 22, 1859, aged 55 years. He married Wealthy or Welthy Ann Williams, a daughter of Hamlin Williams and Patience (Latham) Williams, of Saybrook, July 22, 1827, by Rev. Frederic W. Hotchkiss. She was born at Saybrook, Nov. 20, 1803, and died Nov. 7,. 1873, aged 69 years. Five children are found on the record (there may have been more):

LOUISA TRYON 6.169e, third daughter of Jedediah Tryon 5.88f and Belinda (Jones) Tryon, was born at Saybrook, Conn., no date. She was baptized at Saybrook, Aug. 12, 1810, and on June 3, 1828, she married first, Gresholm Thayer, of Middletown, Conn., by Rev. Frederick W. Hotchkiss. On Dec. 23, 1834, at Madison, Conn., she married second, Elias Carpenter Mix, of New Haven, Conn. He was born Oct. 24, 1801, and died Nov. 11, 1883.

ELIZABETH ANN TRYON 6.169f, fourth daughter of Jedediah Tryon 5.88f and Belinda (Jones) Tryon, was born at Saybrook, Conn., June 11, 1807, and was baptized Aug. 12, 1810. She married Elam Hervey or Harvey B. Rogers, of Deep River, Conn., at Saybrook, Nov. 16, 1826, by Rev. Frederic W. Hotchkiss. Elam was born Jan. 19, 1805, and died Mar. 13, 1881, aged 76 years. She died at Saybrook, Feb. 27, 1886, at the age of 79 years. No children.
