Subject: UAW vs freedom
Letters must not exceed 100 words if the R-E staff decrees that our words relate to the election for the U.S. presidency. It is therefore very hard to offer any sign of real thinking or challenge to mental process for any reader.
My letter deals with the UAW president who dreams of an easy way to rule via unionization without secret elections. Go to www.gratisbooks.com and into the section on Opinion to read why I believe that Gettelfinger insults our intelligence when he labels his idea of compulsory unionization as a Free Choice Act.

Here is the original letter to fit the 300 word limit:
Thanks for the UAW president Gettelfinger outline of Sen Kerry's program to help America and indirectly the UAW's plan to guide our future in the world's global economy. His message:
1. With Massachusetts Senator Kennedy's plan, we can claim universal top quality medical care for all! Who cares that high cost technology isn't in existence in sufficient quantity, no matter who would pay via taxes for this egalitarian ideal. But, give credit for an idea that has to have broad appeal, at someone else's expense.
2. His goal to replace free trade in the global economy with his so-called fair trade is based on the false assumption that we can buy elsewhere what we can't afford to make here, while banning imports of whatever can be priced high enough to warrant paying excessive wages here along with union dues to the UAW. Of course, it takes Congress to pass such restrictive laws, a president to agree, and then a global trade body that will permit the restrictions without corresponding bans on exports! Like the laws of nature governing hurricanes, the UAW never had any natural law on its side- only an arrogant willingness to favor its members no matter what the cost to our exporting industries and consumers.
3.This UAW leader is also willing to call for a so-called free choice act that is a one-way street. Once his muscle boys have secured signed cards no secret election to confirm should be needed! Boy, what is he smoking? If he gets 100% cards signed, and then has to win an election where he gets less than 50% of the votes, what does that tell us? Clearly that he thinks coercion is equivalent to free choice! No wonder he supports Sen. Kerry!
He insults us!
